Meet Dr. Ishibashi

Get to Know West LA’s Leading Foot & Ankle Surgeon, Megan Ishibashi, DPM, FACFAS

Early Life and Education

Dr. Megan Ishibashi brings deep expertise and a patient-first philosophy to every case. Drawing on her training in reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, and minimally invasive techniques, she provides highly specialized care, ranging from treating painful heel conditions and tendon injuries to skillfully removing ingrown nails and managing wound care. Her practice is grounded in compassion, expertise, and a dedication to restoring mobility and long-term wellness for patients in the greater Los Angeles area.

Athletic Background and Inspiration

An accomplished athlete from a young age, Dr. Ishibashi was nationally and internationally ranked in judo and competed in high school wrestling, swimming, and water polo. These formative experiences gave her a deep understanding of movement, recovery, and the demands faced by athletes—perspectives that strongly shape her patient-centered approach to sports medicine and surgical care.

Advanced Training and Fellowship Experience

Dr. Ishibashi completed her residency training at Kaiser San Francisco Bay Area Foot & Ankle Residency Program, where she served as Chief Resident and trained under pioneers in foot and ankle trauma, reconstruction, and total ankle replacement. She then completed the Silicon Valley Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Fellowship at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, focusing on advanced sports medicine, arthroscopy, minimally invasive procedures, total ankle replacement, revision surgery, and trauma of the lower extremity.

Academic and Professional Leadership

During her career, Dr. Ishibashi has been honored with invitations to lecture twice at her alma mater, the California School of Podiatric Medicine, reflecting her commitment to education and mentorship. She has also been selected for the prestigious Chris Mahaffey ACFAS Leadership Development program, underscoring her dedication to advancing leadership within the foot and ankle surgical community.

Early Career

Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Ishibashi joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s Division of Orthopedics & Podiatry, where she quickly attained shareholder status—an exceptional distinction for a physician early in her career. There, she provided comprehensive foot and ankle care throughout Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area. Despite this achievement, she made the deliberate choice to leave her shareholder role to open KIN Foot and Ankle, allowing her to focus closely on individualized, patient-first care utilizing the most advanced surgical and non-surgical techniques for the people of Los Angeles.

Founding of KIN Foot and Ankle

Known for her technical precision, research contributions, and compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Ishibashi continues to advance the field of foot and ankle surgery while maintaining a philosophy grounded in education, empathy, and patient empowerment. In her free time, she enjoys running, staying active, and experiencing everything Los Angeles has to offer—from its diverse food scene to its rich art, music, and fashion culture.
